Great February Meeting for Genesee

We had a great turn out (15 people) including several new people. We even made a try at record for a number Richards in one spot! We continued our Controlled Hand Forging series with twisting, bending, forging square corners, and upsetting.

Here are some pictures. See if you can pick out Sleeping Beauty. :)

STRANGE TWISTS AND TURNS IN LIFE

The Burholme Stamp Club Newsletter

As a ten year old boy, I was full of intellectual curiosity.  Growing up in the New York projects, reading was the only escape from the daily vicissitudes of project existence.   Reading provided a portal for my imagination and my soul.  Rather than deal with the daily existence of crime infested hallways which intruded upon my sleep, and therefore my dreams, I could be anything and anyone I wanted to be, in the mind of a kid.  Intellectual stimulation was my magic carpet which conveyed me from the dangerous and mundane elements of my life.  I could hop from being John Glenn the astronaut to Kirk Douglas the Viking in my imagination.  I was a happy child indeed!

JCCFS Scholarship Posting

Bill Banker just returned from his scholarship class and gave me permission to share his information:

Hi,

I arrived home safely on Sunday afternoon in time to watch the Superbowl.  I was greeted by piles of snow that didn’t appear anywhere except WVA. The roads were generally good and the week passed without incident.

Below are some pics.

Our project was a fire place set. It included a stand, broom, tongs, poker, and shovel. I need to take some new pics as I couldn’t find a background that made things show up.

We should definitely consider Jeff Mohr for a demonstrator. He is a fun guy with lots of stories and excellent demonstrations. He is from FL but does a show in Ohio in late September that could translate into a late September or early October demo. He would like to bring his wife and would do a broom tying class that significant others could participate in.

January Southern Tier Meeting

Sorry about the tardiness of the post but Brian and I went to the Southern Tier Meeting on the 16th of January where we began making the John Little style bells.  Everyone had the opportunity to make a bell and while we had some difficulty with keeping some of the detail they all expanded quite nicely.

I would like to extend my thanks to everyone for their welcoming and friendly attitudes!  We had a wonderful time and it was great to see and meet so many members.  So without further ado here are several photos we took while we were expanding the bells:
