Niagara Hammer In

Hi there, I hope you are all enjoying your summer, although it is not much fun hammering away in hundred degree temps! NIAGARA has a great meeting coming up on Sunday August 14th. PLEASE NOTE: THIS MEETING WILL NOT BE AT ANDY CHAMBERS SHOP. Instead we are having a “Hammer-in “ at Paul and Connie Smiths country estate. They have a large barn, so this is a rain or shine event. Bring your portable forges , chairs, wives/Husbands and family and join us for a day of forging in the wilds of Linden. Paul tells me they even have a large, use at your own risk, pond for those who might want to cool down a bit, We will be having soft drinks, hot dogs and hamburgers for lunch. We will be doing some demo’s for your enjoyment and there will be a couple of Niagara’s forges and anvils for those of you who don’t have portable set ups. But bring your own tools if you have them. For those with electric blowers there is power available. There will be an Iron in the hat draw so bring something, preferably hand forged to donate. Looks like this will be a terrific meeting so don’t miss it. See you there. Any questions call me at 905-899-3326. or e-mail, blacksmithpeter@ live.ca ,Peter Parry.

New Widget

For some reason the pic did not take, so I will try again.

New Widget

Guess I found the door and did’t know it.

I went to the scrap pile and came up with this stand for a client’s sundial. I know there is very little forging in this piece. The center part is actually a casting that I scrounged somewhere. The base is free form torch cut 3/16 plate that was bead blasted and flooded with salt solution to raise the rust patina. Thanks John Rausch for selling me the bead blast cabinet it has been very useful.

Forum Posts

Hi All!

I need some help finding the door to post something to the forum. Can anyone give me a little direction?

Monroe County Fair Demo Opportunity

I have a contact at the Monroe County Fair. If we can man a demo, they are interested in having us. Please contact Brian Martens (bmartens@rochester.rr.com) if you are available on any day from July 13th to the 17th.

Could be cool to be hammering away as 6 beautiful blue & yellow F/A-18 Hornets scream by overhead while making turns for their runs over the air show grounds. Nice contrast!
