Our Last Visit to the Stone Mill Museum

Please join us on August 20-22, 2010 at the Stone Mills Museum in LaFargeville, NY.

John Fee has been kind enough to arrange this and has confirmed with the museum and they are not only excited to have us but are looking forward to it.  They said we could show up on Thursday if we like.

Ken Schwartz will be in the area with his daughters , and has offered to do a demonstration for us, if all works out okay!  So be sure not to miss this!

There will be a pot luck dinner on Friday night , so bring a dish to pass (hopefully with something in it), this is for every one there, the museum folks, the car and tractor dude’s and dudette’s and us.  Should be a good time.

Saturday “night” we will be doin the blacksmith stoup (stew/soup) .

(You will be on your own for lunch.)  This time instead of everyone bringing meat-n-veggies , John Fee will buy all the meat (when it goes on sale) and take up a collection to pay for it. Locally grown veggies will  be used to fill the rest of the pot.

Also we will have one Iron in the hat on Sat. So bring something nice  (NO JUNK)  for that. We will alow the civilians to buy tickets for the IITH too and raise a little extra money for NYSDB.

Bring your forges and anvils to demo for us and the nuts, I mean the “local” folks :-)

See ya there…

Kim Thomas

This May 15th and 16th we will be hosting Kim Thomas at our all-hands meeting in Dave DeSantis’ Shop.

From Mr. Thomas’ web page:

…has been forging ironwork since 1984.  He was chosen for Early American Life Magazine’s “Directory of Traditional Craftsmen” in 1995, 1997, 2005 and 2007.  He demonstrated several years at the Cuyahoga Valley Folk Festival in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Kim uses only traditional tools and techniques to make period lighting and hearth tools of iron for the discerning re-enactor and renovator.

More information and a brochure will be available soon so please check back.
